You have to check on regular basis your moles, birthmarks and skin bumps for any changes. Nearly everyone has more than ten moles, freckles, and spots on his skin but it is not difficult to monitor it for any changes. Since the early detection is the key in the successful treatment of melanoma, it is really important to notice the moles and spots on your body. Changing pattern of the mole is a sign that something had gone bad. The truth is that all skin cancer is treatable if detected early enough. You have to check for any change in the size, color or shape of the mole.

Only the doctor could set a diagnosis. The procedure is simple and painless. It is process, called skin biopsy during which your doctor will cut the growth and will send it to a laboratory to find out what it is. The procedure takes a few minutes and could be done in the doctor’s office under local anesthesia.

There are few types of hairy moles. The birthmark is a kind of a hairy mole but during the ages in fact each mole could develop few hairs. Some hairy moles have a lot of hairs covering the entire surface and some have just a few thin hairs on it. The truth is that the hairy moles are nasty and people often want to get rid of it.

For cosmetic reasons the hairy mole could be removed using one of the common methods for moles removal. But the hairy mole tend to be more irritated than the common mole – it interferes when shaving or by underwear or even by make-up and jewelries.

Hairy mole

Some people remove just the hairs on their mole by clipping or shaving, tweezing or waxing, electrolysis, and laser hair removal. There is no reason to think that some of these procedures could raise the risk of melanoma but it would be good to discuss the idea with your dermatologist and to perform regularly the Check Moles Test. Scissors or a razor can be used to temporarily remove hair from a mole. Permanent hair removal, however, requires electrolysis or a removal of the mole as a whole.

Bleeding mole

Usually the bleeding is not the only sigh for melanoma. The mole has no symmetrical shape. It often itches (sometimes this is the reason for bleeding) have nonevent color.

In the other cases – when the mole is bleeding as a result of some trauma like shaving cut or catching it should be cleaned by physician for disinfection

Raised Mole

The raised moles are often irritated by the clothes or the common activities (as shaving, make up and so on) and because of that they are more uncomfortable for their owners. Usually the raised moles are soft in touch and are not painful. You have to be careful with the raised moles because it is possible to catch them on the clothes or other surrounding objects. This could cause a run or even blooding from the mole. In such cases you have go to dermatologist as soon as possible.

Sometimes it is possible the raised mole to grow so much above the surrounding skin that to fall down by its own and to disappear completely.

Because of their unpleasant appearance and discomfort the raised moles could be removed.

black mole

Because the dark skins tend to develop dark moles it usually could be seen in people with African and Asian origin. Black moles are more prominent in women that in men.

Usually the intense black color is a symptom of melanoma and because of that the black moles should be monitored carefully. There are not enough experimental evidences to prove that black moles will turn into melanoma but you should always be on the alert when a black-pigmented spot is found during the regular check mole process. A single black nevus is more worrisome than multiple lesions so it is obligatory to inform your dermatologist as soon as possible.
