Changing moles

The changes in the mole have to be brought to the attention of your dermatologist. It is normal the mole to grow with us and to change through the years but any unusual change in the color, fast growth, bleeding or oozing, inching or pain could indicate that the mole is turning into a melanoma.

The best way for the successful treatment of skin cancer is its early detection. The dermatologists recommend performing a self exam check at the beginning of each season and at least once per year to be examined by a specialist. You have to check on regular basis your moles, birthmarks and skin bumps for any changes. Nearly everyone has more than ten moles, freckles, and spots on his skin but it is not difficult to monitor it for any changes. Since the early detection is the key in the successful treatment of melanoma, it is really important to notice the moles and spots on your body. It is strongly recommended to keep the history of your self exams and to observe the order of the exams. Changing pattern of the mole is a sign that something had gone bad. The truth is that all skin cancer is treatable if detected early enough. You have to check for any change in the size, color or shape of the mole.

Only the doctor could set a diagnosis. The procedure is simple and painless. It is process, called skin biopsy during which your doctor will cut the growth and will send it to a laboratory to find out what it is. The procedure takes a few minutes and could be done in the doctor’s office under local anesthesia.

Remember: the best way to keep your skin healthy is to perform a regular self moles test in order to find and remove any suspicious spots and growths.
